Johannes Rauh

I am working as a post doc at the Institute of Algebraic Geometry at the Leibniz University of Hannover. Before coming to Hannover, I was a post doc in the Information Theory of Cognitive Systems Group at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences in Leipzig, where I worked for the project Evolution of Networks: Modeling the complexity and robustness of evolving biochemical networks funded by the VW Stiftung.

I am interested in problems from information theory and statistics that I treat with algebraic and geometric methods. Among other things, I am working on:

  • Markov bases
  • Conditional Independence models
  • Information Geometry: Maximizing the Information Divergence
  • Decomposing the mutual information into redundancy, unique information and synergy
  • Complex networks and random graphs

See my research page for more information.
